The 14th meeting of CEN TC278 WG 15, was held in Brussels on 20 – 21 January 2010. Working Group 15, eSafety, is responsible for developing application standards for eCall.

Topics that were discussed included the following:

• Operating requirements for third party support – This draft considers the standardisation needs of private emergency call service providers, in conjunction with the pan-European eCall service
• DATEX and eCall – Discussion on the relevance of DATEX II to eCall and liaison with CEN TC 278 WG 8, Road Databases
• Interest from SISTER project regarding "CALM, Safety Application Message Formats for onboard and independent devices" – Presentation on the SISTER project and discussion on the possibilities for satellite communications providing support for eCall
• Optional additional dataset for HGV eCall – The possibility of development of an HGV dataset for eCall

ITS Radar International will continue to monitor developments in eCall
